3 Ways to Make the Most of Your Internship

By: Zach Murray

As the semester comes to an end, it is time for many students to start thinking about summer internships. Whether it be an internship back home, in Boston, or anywhere else around the

world, it is an exciting and scary time. So, in order to reap all the benefits an internship will

provide, here are three ways to make the most of your time there!

1. Make genuine connections with your coworkers

You’re going to be spending a lot of time where you work, so it is imperative that

you get to know the people you’ll be working with. Whether it’s a fellow intern or a

mentor, make those connections, because they will help make where you work

feel like a real community.

2. Don’t be afraid to ask questions (a lot of them)

a. Employers want you to ask questions! No one expects you to jump right in

knowing everything, and in order to ensure you’re handing in the best work, you

should be asking your managers any questions you might have.

3. Remember, an internship is meant for learning

a. Similarly to asking questions, an internship is an opportunity for you to learn. This

means that you’re not expected to be perfect, just willing to absorb the

information you’re being given. An internship is an incredible experience, and you

should go in with the expectation that you have a lot to learn!
